Bentonite is a natural clay with a high montmorillonite content consisting of the following properties: large swelling capacity, viscosity, absorbency, and plasticity.
These properties make bentonite a valuable product for application: - in drilling fluids for vertical-, horizontal directional drilling and (micro-) tunnelling
- in support fluids in diaphragm walls and
vertical cut-off walls - as a sealer in non-permeable liners for landfill sites
- as a binder in the production of iron-ore pellet
- as a retention-aid in the paper manufacture
- in wine production for the clarification
- in fertilisers
- in waste water treatment.
